Roslyn, a retreat center of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, serves religious, charitable and public service organizations.  We provide an environment free of outside interruptions and maintain a quiet and contemplative tone throughout the grounds.

Office Hours
The registration desk (located in Powers Hall) is staffed from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm. A staff member is on call overnight when guests are in residence. When guests are not in residence, office hours are 7:30 am until 4:00pm. We are open year round providing lodging, dining and meeting facilities to religious, government and non-profit organizations.

Registration
All visitors are asked to register upon arrival.  The registration desk, located in Powers Hall, is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (10:00 pm when guests are in residence).

Powers Hall
The daily newspaper, sporting equipment, puzzles, games, books and DVD’s are available in Powers Hall. 

Accomodations
Check-in time is 2:00 pm and check-out time is 9:00 am.  All guest rooms have a private bath, a telephone and an alarm clock.  However, in keeping with the retreat center spirit, there are no televisions or internet access points in our guest rooms.  Towels, linens, soap, shampoo and lotion are supplied.  Housekeeping services are provided on a daily basis.

Temperature
For your comfort, the thermostats in the Lodges, Walker and Gibson, and the Dining Hall meeting rooms are adjustable. If your have any questions on how to operate the temperature controls, please contact the registration desk.

Housekeeping
When you stay in our guest lodges, we provide you with towels, bed linens, soap, shampoo and lotion. If you are spending more than one night with us, our Housekeeping staff will refresh your room on a daily basis.

Dining
Meals are prepared by our professional staff and served buffet style in the main dining hall at the times listed.  A meal ticket is required for each meal.

Beverages
Coffee/Tea stations and ice chests/machines are located in or near all of the meeting spaces. Drink machines are located in Gibson and Walker Halls, the Picnic Pavilion and outside of the Dining Hall. Bottled water is available at the registration desk.

Messages
Messages will be posted on the message board located at the registration desk. Urgent messages will be hand-delivered to the recipient (if possible).

FAX/Copies/Internet
Fax and copy services are available at the registration desk for a nominal fee. A guest computer with internet access is also located in the lobby. Wireless internet access is available in most common areas.  For your convenience, a computer with internet access and a printer are available in Powers Hall.

Telephones
Telephones are located in most meeting buildings as well as in each guest room. These phones can be used to contact Roslyn staff or another guest room as well as make local and long distance (with calling card) calls. Guests may receive incoming calls directly to their rooms as well. Instructions for the use of these phones are posted nearby.

Activities
There are wooded trails throughout the property as well as benches in quiet spots for conversation, reading and meditation. Stocked fireplaces on screened-in porches are located in the Goodwin, Pullman and Palmer lodges and are open to all guests.  The Fitness Center, including a variety of exercise equipment, is available daily.

Laundry Facility
Guests may wash clothes using the laundry facility located near the Fitness Center.  All machines accept quarters only.  The washing machine is $1.50/load and the dryer is $1.00/load.  Laundry detergent is available at the front desk.

Smoking
We are a smoke-free environment. There are smoking areas outside with ashtrays.

Pets
NO PETS are allowed at Roslyn (except for service dogs).

The Property

Roslyn is located on 150 beautiful, rolling acres and is a walking campus – please bring comfortable shoes to wear and a flashlight to use at night. Guests will find short, wooded trails that are perfect for a walk, and benches that provide quiet spots for conversation, reading, and meditation with a scenic view. The Kanawha Canal and the James River provide an excellent backdrop for any outdoor event. The horseshoe pit and a volleyball court near the Pavilion are also available for our guests. Kites are available at the registration desk for those windy days up on the hill. Foosball and ping pong tables are located in Tucker Hall.

Miscellaneous
Please do not venture beyond the Kanawha Canal as Roslyn does not have access rights to the James River. For the health and safety of all Roslyn guests, there is no smoking inside any building and pets are not allowed.
