Guest Information

Please download the Guest Info page (doc) to print and distribute to your participants prior to their arrival at Roslyn.

Office Hours
Roslyn is open year-round, providing lodging, dining and meeting facilities to religious, state and non-profit organizations. Its business office, located in Powers Hall, is open from 7:30 am to 4:00, Monday-Friday.

Registration
All visitors are asked to check in at the front desk, located in Powers Hall, upon arrival. The front desk is staffed from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm when overnight guests are in residence. A staff member is on call after-hours when overnight guests are in residence. When there are no overnight guests in residence during the week day, the front desk is staffed from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm. If there are no day groups or overnight guests at Roslyn during the weekend, the front desk is closed.

Powers Hall
The daily newspaper, puzzles, games, books and DVDs are available in Powers Hall, which also houses a small gift shop and library.

Accommodations
Check-in is at 2:00 pm and check-out is at 9:00 am. All guest rooms have a private bath, telephone and alarm clock. Towels, linens, soap, shampoo and lotion are supplied, as are daily housekeeping services.

Temperature
All of the thermostats in the guest lodges and meeting space are adjustable. If you have any questions on how to operate the temperature controls, please contact the staff at the front desk in Powers Hall.

Housekeeping
Roslyn guest rooms have towels, bed linens, soap, shampoo and lotion. If you are spending more than one night with us, our housekeeping staff will refresh your room on a daily basis (unless otherwise requested).

Dining
Roslyn's professionally prepared meals are served buffet style in the main dining hall at the following times:
            Breakfast            8:00 am
            Lunch                  12:30 am
            Dinner                  6:00 pm (6:30pm on Friday)

Beverages
Coffee/Tea stations and ice chests/machines are located in or near all of the meeting spaces. Drink machines are located in Gibson and Walker Halls, the Picnic Pavilion and outside of the Dining Hall. Bottled water is available for purchase at the front desk in Powers Hall.

Messages
Messages will be hand-delivered to the recipient (if possible).

FAX/Copies/Internet
Fax and copy services are available at the registration desk for a nominal fee. A guest computer with internet access and a printer are also located in Powers Hall lobby. Wireless internet access is available throughout the campus, with the exception of the Pavilion and Tucker Hall.

Telephones
Telephones are located in most buildings and in each guest room. These phones can be used to contact the front desk staff in Powers Hall, to call another guest, and to make local (free) and long distance (with calling card) calls. Guests may receive incoming calls directly to their rooms too. Instructions for using the phones are posted near each phone.

Activities
There are wooded trails throughout the property as well as benches in quiet spots for conversation, reading, and meditation. Stocked fireplaces are located in Goodwin, Pullman and Palmer lodges' screened porches, which are available use by all guests. The Fitness Center in Tucker Hall includes a variety of exercise equipment and is open daily.

Laundry Facility
Guests may use the laundry facility which is located in the lower level of the Dining Hall. All machines accept quarters only. The washing machine is $1.50/load and the dryer is $1.00/load. Laundry detergent is available for $1.00 at the front desk.

Smoking
Roslyn is a smoke-free environment.

Pets
Pets are not allowed at Roslyn (except for service dogs).

The Property

Roslyn is located on 150 beautiful, rolling acres and is a walking campus - please bring comfortable shoes and a flashlight to use at night. Guests will find short, wooded trails that are perfect for a walk and benches that provide quiet spots for conversation, reading, and meditation. The Kanawha Canal and the James River provide scenic views and an excellent backdrop for outdoor events. The horseshoe pit and a volleyball court near the Pavilion are also available for our guests.

Miscellaneous
Please do not venture beyond the Kanawha Canal as Roslyn does not have access rights to the James River. For health and safety purposes, Roslyn has a policy of no smoking inside any building and no pets (unless they are service dogs).
